WIEF tours the Middle East and Africa

From 24 January - 1 February 2010, the WIEF media team led by the Secretary General, Tan Sri Fuzi Abdul Razak and the Managing Director, Syed Abu Bakar Almohdzar, are touring key countries in the Middle East and Africa to create awareness of the upcoming 6th World Islamic Economic Forum to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 18-20 May 2010. The scheduled countries are the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kenya and South Africa.

This Middle East and Africa tour leg involves press conferences in key cities such as Abu Dhabi, Manama, Doha, Nairobi, Johannesburg and Cape Town attracting major regional media houses and key business people in both these regions to explore the prospect of the Forum being a gateway to business opportunities in the emerging markets of the Muslim World. These press conferences will also feature Mr. Ebrahim Patel, Chief Executive Officer of Magellan Investment Management, South Africa and Mr. Essa Al Ghurair, Vice President of Al Ghurair Group, UAE, both of whom are members of the WIEF International Advisory Panel, Mrs. Evelyn Mungai, a previous WIEF speaker and President of the All Africa Businesswomen Association, Kenya, and the Malaysian ambassadors in these respective countries.
