Omar Faruk is a member of the English Government Legal Services and has held various posts within central and local government. Currently advises a Government Department on commercial and public law matters. Omar is a qualified youth-worker, has lead voluntary and youth work activities in the community for 24 years. He was called to the English Bar in 1996 and read an MBA at Cranfield University.

Omar read Classical Arabic for a year and visited China, Japan and US for his MBA study tours. He is frequently invited to speak at national and international events. Upon invitation by the British Ambassador in Berlin delivered a key note speech on "Engaging Muslim Communities in Europe"; upon invitation by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office was delegate of the British Muslim Delegation to Bangladesh; upon invitation by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies presented in New York.

Omar held a number of Non-Executive Directorships. In October 2007 he founded EcoMuslim and developed www.ecomuslim.com. He was awarded the Active Citizen Governor of the Year 2008 by a London Borough. EcoMuslim has held many events at the House of Lords. Recently Omar presented at conferences in Kuwait and Moscow.
